Our tariffsHow it works
The rental is also possible with the VRS chip card. For this purpose, it must be linked to your customer account once beforehand. Learn more.
REGISTRATION
Registration is free of charge. In order to verify your account, a €1 deposit is required and will become rental credit to use later on.
RENTAL
Simply scan the QR Code on the bike with the nextbike app or tap your VRS chip card at the rear of the bike and the FrameLock will automatically open.
PAUSE RIDE
Pause your ride without ending the rental. Simply pause your ride in the app and close the lock. The rental stays active during the pause and will be charged as usual.
RETURN
Close the frame lock. The return is automatically recorded. In non-coloured streets / zones and at stations, the return is free of charge. In the yellow zone, the return is possible with a €1 surcharge. For returns outside of the mentioned areas, we charge a service fee of €20.
Our tariffs
You can rent up to four bikes with one customer account. However, subscriptions and special conditions typically apply to the first bike only. The monthly subscription is valid throughout Germany (except for Oldenburg, Bremen, Mainz, Konstanz, Usedom and Nuremberg). You can change the tariff in your app Wallet.
Basic tariff
1 €/15 min
If you have not booked another tariff, you will be charged at the basic rate. The maximum daily charge is 15 €/24 h.
Monthly subscription
10 €/month
The first 30 minutes of each rental are included. Afterwards, each additional half hour will be charged at 1 € (max. 15 €/24 h).
Annual subscription
60 €/year
The first 30 minutes of each rental are included. Afterwards, each additional half hour will be charged at 1 € (max. 15 €/24 h).
VRS basic tariff
0 €/30 min
The first 30 minutes per rental are included. For each additional half hour you pay 1 € (max. 9 €/24 h).
VRS chip card holders enjoy discounts in Cologne and other cities and communities in the VRS. Students of cooperating institutions also enjoy the conditions of the VRS basic tariff. More information about the discounts can be found under Partners and CAMPUSbike.
VRS basic tariff
0 €/30 min
Anyone who has purchased a digital Deutschlandticket or VRS subscription from the KVB gets 30 minutes for KVB-Rad per rental. Each additional half hour costs €1 (max. €9/24 hours). In other nextbike schemes the basic rate applies.
