Our tariffsHow it works
The rental is possible with the VRS chip card. For this purpose, it must be linked to your customer account once beforehand. Learn more.
REGISTRATION
Registration is free of charge. In order to verify your account, a €1 deposit is required and will become rental credit to use later on.
RENTAL
Simply scan the QR Code on the bike with the nextbike by TIER app or tap your VRS chip card at the rear of the bike and the FrameLock will automatically open.
PARKING MODE
Do you want to park your bike during a rental? First activate the park mode in the app and then press the FrameLock lever down to lock the bike.
RETURN
Check in the app in what zone you are in. Return your bike within the blue marked zone and at an official station at no extra costs. For 1 € extra you can return your bike within the pink zone. Press the FrameLock lever down to lock the bike. If you return your bike away from the zones or stations, a service fee of at least 20 € will be charged.

Our tariffs
You can rent up to four bikes with one customer account. However, subscriptions and special conditions typically apply to the first bike only. The monthly rate is valid throughout Germany (except for Oldenburg, Bremen, Usedom and Nuremberg). You can change the tariff in your account settings.
Basic tariff
1 €/15 min
If you have not booked another tariff, you will be charged at the basic rate. The maximum daily charge is 15 €/24 h.
Monthly tariff
10 €/month
The first 30 minutes of each rental are included. Afterwards, each additional half hour will be charged at 1 € (max. 15 €/24 h).
Annual tariff
60 €/year
The first 30 minutes of each rental are included. Afterwards, each additional half hour will be charged at 1 € (max. 15 €/24 h).
VRS basic tariff
0 €/30 min
The first 30 minutes per rental are included. For each additional half hour you pay 1 € (max. 9 €/24 h).
VRS chip card holders enjoy discounts in Cologne and other cities and communities in the VRS. Students of cooperating institutions also enjoy the conditions of the VRS basic tariff. More information about the discounts can be found under Partners and CAMPUSbike.
